* To be ranked, a peak must have at least 300 feet of prominence, which is the amount of elevation it rises above the lowest saddle that connects to the nearest, higher peak. This guideline has been in use in Colorado for some time. The following peaks are not ranked because they do not have enough prominence but are on this 14er list because they are named and recognized on USGS maps:

The 5 named but "unofficial" 14ers:
Mt. Cameron has an elevation of 14,248' but prominence of only ~152 feet.
El Diente Peak has an elevation of 14,175' but prominence of only ~264 feet.
Challenger Point has an elevation of 14,086' but prominence of only ~264 feet.
North Eolus has an elevation of 14,042' but prominence of only ~212 feet.
Conundrum Peak has an elevation of 14,037' but prominence of only ~225 feet.
